Known is a private-pay, non-clinical healthcare advocacy, coordination, and logistical-support company.
We take responsibility for defined parts of the work around healthcare, such as insurance, records, referrals, scheduling, research, paperwork, communication, appointments, procedures, practical logistics, and ongoing coordination.
-
Nope! Tell us what is happening and what you want taken off your plate.
Known determines whether it fits our scope, how the assignment should be structured, and who is best suited to handle it.
-
No.
Known can be useful for one isolated healthcare problem, a temporary period of care, a procedure, an injury, recurring healthcare, chronic illness, disability, or a healthcare situation that simply requires more time and coordination than you have available.
-
Usually, no.
Known works across healthcare specialties and settings when the work itself is within our non-clinical scope and the provider or facility permits our involvement.
Your diagnosis, whether a provider is in-network or out-of-network, or whether care is inpatient or outpatient does not by itself determine whether Known can help.
-
Insurance and benefits problems. Scheduling. Records. Referrals. Provider searches. Paperwork. Disability or leave administration. Appointment accompaniment. Procedure logistics. Communication. Public systems. Practical recovery logistics. Recurring treatments. Multiple providers. Healthcare work that has stalled.
If healthcare created the work, tell us about it.
APPOINTMENTS & IN-PERSON SUPPORT
-
Yes, when the provider or facility permits it.
Your Advocate can help you prepare, meet you at the agreed location, accompany you, wait with you, attend the visit with your permission, take non-clinical notes, keep track of questions, request clarification when you want support doing so, and organize immediate follow-up.
-
Yes.
Recurring care is one of the places continuity can be especially useful.
Whenever reasonably possible, we keep the same Advocate with a recurring client so they already know the setting, logistics, communication preferences, open questions, and usual follow-up.
-
Often.
Known can serve as a procedure escort when the facility accepts a non-clinical escort.
We can help coordinate the day, accompany you, wait as appropriate, track logistical discharge information, and travel home with you using the agreed transportation.
Known does not provide post-anesthesia medical monitoring, hands-on caregiving, or assume medical responsibility after discharge.
If the facility requires a medically responsible caregiver, clinical monitoring, hands-on care, or overnight responsibility, Known is not the appropriate service for that requirement.
-
Known can help organize the practical work around recovery: appointments, transportation, supplies, deliveries, outside services, communication, scheduling, and follow-up.
Known does not provide nursing, medical monitoring, bathing, dressing, toileting, lifting, transfers, or other hands-on personal care.
INSURANCE & ADMINISTRATIVE ADVOCACY
-
Yes.
Known can help with benefit verification, out-of-network benefits, claims, billing problems, prior-authorization follow-up, denials, administrative appeals, continuity-of-care problems, contradictory insurer answers, and escalation.
We document what we are told, including available reference information, and keep track of what still needs to happen.
-
Yes.
We can contact your insurer, ask the relevant questions, document the benefit information provided to us, capture available reference details, and give you a clear summary.
Insurance representatives can still provide incorrect information or process a later claim differently, so a benefits check cannot guarantee reimbursement.
-
Yes, when the matter falls within administrative advocacy scope.
We can help organize the history, build a timeline, gather relevant records, identify contradictions, research escalation pathways, make authorized calls, prepare administrative written advocacy, and track deadlines and follow-up.
Known does not provide legal representation or clinical medical opinions.
-
Yes.
Known can manage the administrative side of applications and follow-up: documents, records, forms, signatures, deadlines, submissions, organization, and tracking.
Medical certification and legal representation remain with the appropriate professionals.
-
Known can make authorized administrative pharmacy calls and help troubleshoot insurance, authorization, refill, communication, and logistical issues. We can also, in certain circumstances, pick up and transport your medications.
Known does not store, sort, dose, administer, supervise, or otherwise manage medication.
FEES & PAYMENT
-
Known is private pay, and you know the price before work begins.
Current starting points for common work include:
one clearly defined remote healthcare task: from $100
a connected administrative project: from $200
complex navigation or advocacy: from $300
Telehealth appointment support: from $150
in-person appointment support: from $150
in-person procedure support: from $200
short-term coordination: from $200
ongoing healthcare management: from $250/month
Complex, travel, organizational, and custom engagements are quoted according to the work Known is agreeing to own.
-
Services under $500 are generally paid in full when the engagement is confirmed.
For engagements of $500 or more, the standard deposit is 50% unless Known approves a different written payment schedule.
Ongoing monthly work is billed in advance.
Travel and other approved third-party expenses are separate when applicable.
-
Known is private pay and does not bill health insurance directly.
We can help you understand benefits or reimbursement possibilities when applicable, but we cannot guarantee that an insurer will reimburse for Known services.
-
Yes.
A parent, partner, employer, family member, or another person may pay.
The adult receiving Known services remains the client. Payment does not automatically give the payer access to the client’s healthcare information or decision-making authority.
-
In-person appointments and accompaniment generally require at least 48 hours’ notice.
Procedure support generally requires at least 72 hours’ notice.
When substantive work has already been completed outside an appointment, the portion of the fee associated with that completed work is generally nonrefundable.
Provider cancellations, unexpected medical changes, and unusual circumstances are reviewed under the engagement’s cancellation terms.
PRIVACY, COMMUNICATION & AI
-
Only what we reasonably need for the assignment.
A person hiring Known for one insurance question should not need to hand over their entire medical history.
If records, insurance information, releases, or other sensitive materials are necessary, we provide a secure way to share them after the initial inquiry.
-
Your case is managed by human Healthcare Advocates.
Known does not use AI tools to read, summarize, triage, navigate, or manage client health information in our client-record systems.
Our Advocates do the reading, calling, documenting, communicating, reasoning, and follow-through themselves.
-
Yes.
Known’s communication standard is designed so clients do not have to chase us for status.
Updates should tell you what happened, what remains open, who owns the next action, and what happens next.
-
Yes, when you authorize it.
You decide who may receive information and what they may receive.
FAMILY, CAREGIVERS & CONTINUITY
-
Potentially, yes.
Known can provide NYC-based appointment accompaniment, logistics, coordination, communication, and practical follow-through while authorized family or chosen supports participate from elsewhere.
The adult receiving the service remains in control of their healthcare information and decisions.
-
Yes.
Known can work with an adult client and their authorized support system around appointments, records, resources, communication, benefits, administrative work, and coordination.
-
Yes, when the matter falls within administrative advocacy scope.
We can help organize the history, build a timeline, gather relevant records, identify contradictions, research escalation pathways, make authorized calls, prepare administrative written advocacy, and track deadlines and follow-up.
Known does not provide legal representation or clinical medical opinions.
-
Known can support the responsible caregiver with appointments, notes, communication, resources, and administrative follow-through.
Known does not become the sole responsible adult, guardian, proxy, or substitute decision-maker when cognitive or neurological impairment creates a safety or capacity need.
-
For recurring and ongoing work, continuity is a priority whenever reasonably possible.
One primary Advocate knowing the context reduces repeated explanation and makes it easier to keep open work moving.
Still not sure?
That is completely fine. Healthcare has a way of producing situations that do not fit perfectly into a menu.
Tell us what is happening, what you would like taken off your plate, and whether there is an appointment, procedure, date, or deadline involved.
We will review the request, determine whether it falls within our scope, and recommend the clearest way to structure the support.
