Healthcare, handled.

Known takes responsibility for the practical work around healthcare, such as from insurance, records, referrals, research, scheduling, and paperwork to appointments, procedures, recurring care, and the follow-through that keeps everything moving.

Bring us one problem, a complicated stretch of care, or healthcare work that keeps coming back around.

Tell us what you need handled. We’ll tell you how we can help.

In-person support is based in New York City. Remote administrative and advocacy support may be available more broadly depending on the assignment and location.

WHAT YOU CAN HAND OVER

One thing. Someone beside you. Or the moving pieces.

Get one thing handled.

An insurance problem. A referral that went nowhere. Records that need to get from one office to another. A provider search. Paperwork. Scheduling. An appeal. A healthcare task you keep moving from one day’s list to the next.

Give it to us. We define what we can take responsibility for, do the work, follow up, and tell you where it landed.

Have someone there.

Sometimes the thing you really need is a capable, empathetic person by your side, literally..

Known can help you prepare for an appointment or procedure, meet you there, wait with you, join the visit with your permission, take non-clinical notes, keep track of questions, help get clarification, and organize what happens afterward.

Let us manage the moving pieces.

One healthcare issue has a way of becoming five.

Appointments. Records. Insurance. Referrals. Pharmacies. Transportation. Provider communication. Family updates. Follow-up.

Known can hold those threads together for a complicated few weeks or on an ongoing basis, with one primary Advocate keeping track of what is happening and what still needs to happen.

WAYS PEOPLE USE KNOWN

Healthcare has a way of turning one problem into six.

One appointment becomes a referral. The referral needs records. The records never arrive. Insurance wants an authorization. The pharmacy has a question. Someone was supposed to call you back Tuesday. On and on it goes.

Known can step into the administrative, logistical, and advocacy work that grows around your healthcare and take responsibility for the pieces you hand us.

Deal with my insurance company.

Benefits, claims, billing questions, authorizations, denials, conflicting answers, appeals, and the follow-up that comes after the first phone call.

Find the right provider.

Research around the things that actually matter to you: specialty experience, location, insurance or payment needs, accessibility, availability, identity-affirming care, and other preferences.

Get my records and referrals where they need to go.

Request them, track them, follow up when they disappear into a fax machine somewhere, and make sure the next office actually receives what it needs.

Manage the healthcare work that keeps coming back.

Recurring appointments, treatments, insurance issues, records, scheduling, provider communication, and all the administrative work that starts over again every month.

Come with me.

Prepare for the visit, be another set of ears, help keep track of questions, take notes, request clarification when you want it, and organize what happens next.

Coordinate the day.

Appointments, treatments, procedures, transportation, timing, authorized updates, discharge logistics, and getting home when a facility accepts a non-clinical escort.

Get me through the paperwork.

Forms, records, signatures, deadlines, disability or leave administration, supporting documents, submissions, and follow-up.

Keep the whole thing straight.

Several providers. Several offices. Different records. Open questions. Referrals. Insurance. Things people promised to do.

Known keeps the threads visible and keeps moving them.

Known works across healthcare systems and specialties. Care may be routine or complex, inpatient or outpatient, in-network or out-of-network.

The question we ask is: What needs to be done, and can Known responsibly own that work within our non-clinical scope?

Non-clinical does not mean uninvolved.

We research. Organize. Call. Schedule. Communicate. Document. Accompany. Coordinate. Follow up. Ask questions. Push when something has stalled. Bring in the right person when another kind of expertise is needed.

We do the work around the decision so you have the information, time, and capacity to make the decision yourself.

The diagnosis, specialty, stage of care, insurance arrangement, or setting usually matters less than the work itself.

From “I cannot keep track of all of this” to “it’s handled.”

01 — Tell us what you need handled.

Start with the situation.

Tell us what is happening, what you want taken off your plate, where you are located, and whether there is an appointment, procedure, deadline, or other time-sensitive piece involved.

You do not need to know which service you need or which Advocate you need.

02 — We define the work and match it.

Lauren reviews the request for fit, scope, timing, location, and staffing. If Known can take it on, we define exactly what we are agreeing to handle, what completion looks like, what it will cost, and what we need from you.

Then we match the assignment to the Advocate whose experience, availability, location, continuity, and way of working make sense for the job.

Before work begins, you know what Known owns, what it costs, and who is handling it.

03 — Your Advocate takes it from there.

Your Advocate does the agreed work, documents what happens, keeps track of unanswered questions and promises made by other people, follows up when something stalls, and lets you know when something materially changes.

At the end, you know what was done, what we learned, what remains open, who owns the next action, and what happens next.

Depending on the assignment, that may include a written summary, secure message, phone or Zoom conversation, or a combination.

THE KNOWN STANDARD

If we take it on, we own it.

An unanswered call does not close the task. Neither does a missing form, a referral that never arrived, or someone telling us they will “get back to you.”

Accepted work stays visible.

We document what happened, follow up, change pathways when needed, communicate when something changes, and keep going until there is a result, a responsible handoff, a decision we need from you, or a clearly defined next step.

Ownership & persistence

Once Known accepts a responsibility, it stays visible.

An unanswered call, missing form, vague promise, or stalled referral does not silently close the task. We document what happened, follow up, change pathways when needed, and keep going until there is a result, clear barrier, or next step.

Human, on purpose

Your healthcare is being handled by people.

There is no AI navigator managing your case and no chatbot deciding what happens next. Your Advocate reads what they need to read, makes the calls, asks the questions, notices inconsistencies, documents what happened, uses judgment, and knows the context behind the work.

Known does not use AI tools to read, summarize, triage, or manage client health information in our client-record systems. Technology helps us run a secure, organized company.

The judgment, advocacy, communication, and responsibility stay human.

Autonomy & discretion

You decide what you want help with, how involved you want your Advocate to be, and who may receive information.

Known helps you get information, execute the work around your healthcare, communicate your stated preferences, and keep things moving. The decisions remain yours.

Every Known Healthcare Advocate works from the same standard: take ownership, stay organized, communicate clearly, protect the client’s autonomy, and follow through.

They bring very different professional backgrounds and areas of depth. Our team includes people with particular strength in insurance appeals and written advocacy, longitudinal coordination, public systems, recurring care, appointment navigation, practical logistics, executive functioning, healthcare systems, and human behavior.

Your primary Advocate keeps the relationship and the overall thread. When another team member’s expertise would strengthen one part of the assignment, Known brings that person in behind the scenes or for a defined piece of the work. You do not have to identify the specialist, explain the situation again, or coordinate the team yourself. Known does that.

Known is founded and led by Lauren Winick, LCSW, a social worker and psychotherapist by training, longtime group-practice owner, supervisor and consultant, and lifelong chronically ill and disabled patient. That combination shapes the company’s expectations for systems thinking, emotional literacy, boundaries, judgment, organization, communication, and follow-through.

One primary Advocate.

The strength of the whole team.

Tell us what you need handled.

Tell us what is happening, what you would like taken off your plate, and whether there is a particular appointment, procedure, date, or deadline involved.

Lauren personally reviews each inquiry for fit, scope, timing, location, and staffing. If Known can take the work on, we will explain what we can own, how the engagement should be structured, and what it will cost before anything begins.

Every inquiry is reviewed by a person. We generally respond within 24 hours and prioritize time-sensitive appointment and procedure requests whenever we can.

Please do not submit medical records, insurance cards, medical images, or other sensitive health information through this form. If we need those materials, we will provide a secure way to share them after we connect.
